Primary Duties

 

Compile, analyze, interpret, investigate, and report public health data for health research projects on the surveillance, detection, and prevention of disease and public health crises. Manage public health surveillance databases.

 

Essential Functions

Compile data for technical reports for the Public Health District (PHD). Plan, direct, oversee, and manage epidemiologic studies and urgent outbreak investigations. Supervise staff, assign duties, monitor operations, and review the work of assigned staff to ensure the efficient and timely accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities. Oversee the design and use of databases for analysis of health problems. Oversee the design and management of surveillance systems for diseases of public health importance. Oversee the design of instruments for the collection of surveillance information and data. Lead the development and conduct of epidemiologic studies for program planning. Conduct and develop methods for advanced descriptive and comprehensive analyses of surveillance data for multiple purposes. Conduct and oversee literature reviews for design of programs, preparation of publications and planning and evaluation. Design, prepare, and review reports from analyses of surveillance data, literature reviews, and other information. Review and prepare responses to requests for information. Develop and provide recommendations to officials about the control of disease and injury problems based on the results of surveillance, field investigations, and laboratory tests and on available and acceptable methods of control. Prepare and present reports, statistical analyses, scientific papers, specific studies, and trends in epidemiology and public health in order to assess the health needs of the community to diverse audiences. Assist with public health program evaluation and planning. Assist in the development of grant proposals. Oversee or generate maps for the study of public health concerns. Use the following software: Microsoft Excel; R; ArcGIS; Epilnfo; Microsoft TEAMS, and, Redcap.

 

Qualifications

 

Requirements:

 

• Requires a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biological Science, or a related field or their equivalent

• Two years of experience in the job offered or two years of experience in public health and using Microsoft Excel; R; ArcGIS; Epilnfo; Microsoft TEAMS, and, Redcap.
