Under general supervision, prepares and presents internal communications for assigned departments to coordinate messaging on various sections of the website and social media accounts.

 

Primary Duties

 

Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

• Create, manage, and contribute to internal communication strategies, campaigns, and calendars.

• Manage and improve the efficiency and efficacy of the City’s internal communications channels such as the intranet, hypersign TV platform, and employee news.

• Collaborate and maintain the City’s internal integrated communications and marketing campaigns and be a driving force behind the City’s employee communication strategy and programs.

• Bring the City’s brand, purpose, and priorities to life through stories about team members, stories that engage and inspire.

• Research, write, edit, and distribute high-quality, accurate communications.

• Experiment with creative ways to reach colleagues with the news and information they care about and will help them do their jobs.

• Partner and plan with HR, City Manager’s Office, and Finance, as well as other City departments.

• Develop communications plans with a long arch, that ties together multiple touchpoints in support of broader strategies and goals.

• Serve as a trusted partner and strategic advisor for internal stakeholders.

• Use data to measure the impact and ROI of communications and set strategies for the future.

• Arranges for photography and communication coverage for internal city events.

• Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

• May be required to respond after-hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Driving is essential.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or a related field

• Three years’ internal communication experience

• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.

 

Physical Demands

 

Sedentary Work:

 

• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
