Summary

 

Under basic supervision, performs customer service, bookkeeping, dispatch and activity reporting functions for Solid Waste Department (SWD).

 

Primary Duties

 

Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

• Maintains positive customer relations by providing prompt, courteous and accurate service to the public with SWD questions, complaints and requests for services and information.

• Maintains account and financial records, collects payments, accounts for revenue, processes documents, compiles data and generates reports; maintains administrative records and reporting systems; prepares work orders and provides radio dispatch services for work crews; performs duties within scope of authority and training and in compliance with City policies; duties may vary according to job assignment.

• Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.

• Purchasing and P-card transactions.

• Assisting with budget preparations.

• Manages billing and invoicing accounts, reviews and verifies data and maintains record systems; maintains administrative records and reporting systems.

• Manages trash requisitions.

• Performs other related and assigned duties as required.

• Driving is essential

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

 

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• AND one year of customer service experience

• Must score a 70% or above on Customer Mindset and Computer Literacy testing

 

Physical Demands

 

Sedentary Work:

 

• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
