ANNUAL SALARY: Minimum $76,237

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Director will support the mission of the College and Foundation by meeting fundraising goals while diversifying the donor base to grow existing and new revenue sources. This position will support the Executive Director by sustaining positive relationships with donors and internal and external constituencies that can have a positive effect on achieving the College’s priorities. This position will oversee management of the donor database and execute development activities, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects. This position receives general direction from the Executive Director of the MCC Foundation and exercises some supervision. NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, in Business, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Affairs/Fundraising, or Legal Studies.

Experience: At least 5 years of professional, relevant work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Affairs/Fundraising, or Legal Studies.

Experience: Professional experience working with nonprofit organizations.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Effective methods of donor solicitation and fundraising strategies. 2. Local, state, and federal regulations on charitable donations. 3. Event planning and execution. 4. Capital funding strategies. 5. Major gift solicitation strategies from foundations, corporations, and individuals. 6. Database management programs, Raiser’s Edge preferred. 7. Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign. 8. Planned giving and legal matters related to fundraising. Skills in: 9. Writing, editing, and clear verbal communication. 10. Project management. 11. Prioritizing, organization of resources, and advancing multiple projects in a timely manner. Ability to: 12. Master new software applications and technologies. 13. Make thoughtful decisions and judgment calls. 14. Meet deadlines and handle multiple complex/confidential tasks simultaneously. 15. Work well under pressure and make decisions independently. 16. Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information. 17. Develop proposals that address the needs of the college and match interests of donors. 18. Articulate the mission of the college and inspire interest in that mission from friends and donors. 19. Identify projects, build constituent relationships, and follow through to successful giving.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
