To plan, organize and supervise Child Development Lab School operations Ensure that Texas Department of Family & Protective Services Child Care Licensing Standards and Texas Workforce Solutions CCS Rising Star Criteria are met and NAEYC Accreditation is maintained. Work with the Program Director of Child Studies & Education to offer a positive learning environment for students in affiliated programs This position exercises direct supervision over support staff. NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.


Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in child development or early childhood education, that addresses child development and learning from birth through age 5. Education or training in business practices as required by Texas DFPS Child Care Licensing (ex: child care administration, management, leadership, business, accounting, etc.).

Experience: 3 or more years teaching experience in a licensed child care center or similar early childhood education program required.

Special Requirements: Must possess or qualify for a Child Care Director’s Certificate issued by Texas Department of Family & Protective Services. Possess or commitment to obtain Food Handler, CPR and First Aid certifications within four weeks of employment.


Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Prefer 1+ year managing a licensed child care center.

Knowledge of: 1. developmental stages of children; 2. principles, practices, and procedures of child development center operations; 3. educational methods and guidance techniques for child development programs; 4. nutrition and food preparation for child development centers; 5. employee supervision, training, retention, and performance evaluation methods; 6. Pertinent Federal, State, and college laws, rules, and regulations, including Texas Department of Family & Protective Services Child Care Licensing, Texas Rising Star and NAEYC Accreditation standards; 7. parent education and family involvement strategies. Skills in: 8. Effective team leadership and development; 9. communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing 10. Effective office technology use, not limited to computer and web-based applications. Ability to: 11. Work well under pressure, using critical thinking to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously; 12. plan and implement activities in the classroom with children as needed; 13. Recruit and maintain enrollment of children; 14. effectively administer a variety of health, safety, and human service activities; 15. coordinate program planning, purchasing, and budgeting; 16. establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.


Restricted-Sustained posture, for prolonged periods; light lifting, some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
