GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position will supervise general operations within the Food Services Department, to include catering and three working cafes. The Manager, with the support of employees, will plan and execute culinary functions across campus. This position receives general supervision from the Director, Purchasing and Auxiliary Services and exercise supervision over support and professional staff. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate Degree from an accredited institution or 5 years of supervisory experience in the food service industry.
Experience: Three or more years of professional supervisory experience in food services.
Special Requirements: Must possess, or have the ability to obtain food handler’s license within first 14 days of employment. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be insurable and maintain insurability under the College’s automobile insurance policy.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Knowledge of: 1. Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. 2. Industry standards in food preparation, food storage, refrigeration, sanitation, equipment used in institutional foodservice, store keeping and record keeping methods. Skills in: 3. Time management and organization. 4. Prioritizing tasks and multitasking. 5. Proper use of English language, both verbally and in writing. 6. Human relations, communications, and management in dealing with subordinates, leadership, and others in the campus community. 7. Problem solving. Ability to: 8. Develop appealing menus and prepare the appropriate quantities of food required for the campus community. 9. Train, supervise, and work efficiently with food service workers in planning, assigning, and review of work. 10. Estimate food requirements, equipment, and supplies and to keep accurate records and inventories. 11. Foster a team environment. 12. Work independently with little supervision. 13. Use good judgment. 14. Work flexible schedule, based on service needs by the campus community. 15. Acquire and maintain Certified Food Manager certificate. 16. Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. 17. Sustain regular work attendance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exertive-Significant exertion on a daily basis. Awkward positions and sustained activities require strength. Frequent moderate lifting is required. Unpleasant Exposure Minor Hazard-Moderate exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant but not hazardous odors are present. There is occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions. Frequency and severity are limited.
