Director of Clinic Operations
Salary Minimum: $55,000

Animal Birth Control Clinic is welcoming, inclusive, purposeful, and customer-centric. Our community-focused work makes Central Texas pets and people healthier and safer by providing access to affordable veterinary care like spay and neuter, vaccinations, testing and heartworm/flea/tick medications. With community financial support and collaboration, the health and safety of our community is improved while enriching the lives of cats, dogs and families, while also reducing animal intake in shelters and rescues.
The successful candidate will work closely with employees, other administrative staff, community partners, and pet owners. This position reports to the board of directors.
Education and Experience
Required – Minimum 2 years of management experience
Preferred – 2 years experience in a clinical setting (veterinary, public health, or other)
Preferred – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Preferred – Fear Free Pets Certification
Manage all clinic personnel (31 average staff)
Oversee all day-to-day clinic operations
Schedule clerical and medical staff
Hiring and onboarding of new employees
Ensure strong and positive communication and working relationships throughout the organization and maintain a work culture that embraces diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity, and equality at all levels of the organization.
Provide leadership to encourage employees to take initiative and develop within the organization.
Offer support to management and clerical staff in relations to guests
Financial reporting of donations, inventory, and other pertinent information
End of day reconciliations
Oversee ordering supplies and inventory maintenance
Provide primary managerial direction and perform personnel administrative functions of direct report staff, enhancing productivity of staff and ensuring that necessary outcomes are achieved.
Excellent team leadership and personnel management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work in Google Suite
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, problem solve, delegate, and lead projects to on-time completion
Outstanding interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Personal characteristics of reliability, equanimity, flexibility, and ability to innovate
Ability to recognize a need for assistance and comfortably ask for help, and provide the same for others
Desire for and commitment to continuing education
Basic financial and data reporting competency
Ability to work in Word and Excel
Ability to function well in a high-paced (and at times), stressful environment
Able to lift 30 lbs and bend over regularly, including navigating cramped areas
Able to use a ladder and/or step stool
Exposure to dog and cat dander and other allergens
Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases and parasites (including but not limited to intestinal worms, rabies, leptospirosis, bartonellosis, conjunctivitis).
Prolonged exposure to various solutions that are located in the SDS file
Prolonged exposure to isopropanol, hydrogen peroxide, quaternary ammonium cleaners, bleach, formalin and other solutions
Potential/prolonged exposure to isoflurane gas
Prolonged exposure to pressurized steam
Potential exposure to sharps including needles and surgical blades
This position is scheduled for 4 days of the week, usually Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays.
