Summary

 

Under basic supervision, provides nutrition counseling, education and assessment for clients of the Public Health District (PHD); supervises and trains clinic staff.

 

Primary Duties

 

Minimum starting salary: $60,000 Annually

 

Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

• Provides direct client care for PHD client; provides nutrition education and outreach programs and works with community to increase public awareness of proper nutrition; provides information, counseling and case management according to program guidelines; monitors clinic operations and reviews patient files.

• Supervises staff, assigns duties, monitors operations and reviews the work of assigned staff to assure the efficient and timely accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities.

• Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

• May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.

• Driving is essential.

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Food Sciences or a related field.

• Two years’ experience in nutrition programs.

• One year experience in a supervisory role.

• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license.

 

Preferred but not required:

 

• Registered Dietitian License by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

• International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

 

Physical Demands

 

Sedentary Work:

 

• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
