Instruct courses in Long Term Care Administration. This position will develop fieldwork sites, maintain Texas HHSC rules and standards for the Nursing Facility Administrator and Assisted Living Facility Manager credentials, conference with fieldwork educators and students during placements to ensure success. Other responsibilities include curriculum development and assessment, student recruitment and retention, academic advising, maintaining office hours, participate in college committees including community-based advisory groups, participating in professional development, working across departments to develop student potential. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual-credit, blended, hyflex, and/or online courses. This position reports to the Division Chair of Human Services and Education and exercises no supervision.

NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.


Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a field associated with Long Term Care Administration such as Business Management, Health Care Administration/Management, Nursing, Gerontology, and/or Social Work.

Experience: Three years of work experience in the administration of Nursing and/or assisted living service delivery.

Special Requirement: Must be licensed or licensure eligible in the state of Texas as a Nursing Facility Administrator, and certified or eligible to be certified as a Preceptor for supervision of LNFA candidates.


Experience: Prior teaching experience in a long term care academic program and experience in field supervision.

Knowledge of: 1. Education requirements for LTCA programs, including but not limited to state requirements. 2. Subject matter and instructional design and materials for program courses. 3. Curriculum design and revision, taking into consideration requirements from governmental and non-governmental sources. 4. Relationship and role delineation between NF, ALF, and community-based long term care services. Skills in: 5. Student advising. 6. Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 7. Utilizing a computer and other technology to communicate, maintain records, and develop and present course materials, etc. Ability to: 8. Coordinate the field work component for the program, including student placement and scheduling. 9. Maintain effective working relationships with clinical facilities that provide student affiliations. 10. Evaluate student knowledge and skills. 11. Develop and assess curriculum. 12. Participate in professional development. 13. Promote awareness of the program in the community. 14. Advise students and participate in recruitment and retention activities. 15. Support and participate in college activities.


Physical effort-restricted; sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis.  Work environment-minimal hazard/exposure; standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
