GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Coordinator will work to increase the number of students earning credentials by enhancing and expanding industry engagement, identify skills and credentials in demand by local industry, work with instructional programs to align these skills with clearly defined educational paths for students seeking employment, and expand employment opportunities for students within their program of study. This position will collaborate with other college outreach efforts to compile data on the college’s industry engagement and serve as an industry liaison focused on identifying workforce skills, credentials, and employment needs of employers in collaboration with the college’s workforce programs. Receives general direction from the Dean of Workforce and Public Service and exercises no supervision. NOTE:  This is a security-sensitive position, and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: More than three years of work experience in education, training, professional development, workforce development, economic development, or more than three years of industry-related work experience in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, public service, or business.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Workforce development and assessing/identifying industry training needs. 2. Industry-recognized credentials and professional certifications. 3. Principles and practices of confidential records management and file maintenance, both physical and electronic.  Skills in: 4. MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, recordkeeping and reporting practices, video conferencing, and internet browsers. 5. Presenting information to a wide-range of groups at all levels 6. Analyzing and problem-solving. 7. Searching, finding, and organizing data from multiple sources. Ability to: 8. Communicate effectively through speech and writing. 9. Work independently, prioritize, problem solve and exercise good judgment. 10. Organize and prioritize projects to meet deadlines. 11. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 12. Collect and analyze data related to workforce trends. 13. Learn new software quickly and stay abreast of new software applications. 14. Identify, connect, and collaborate with industry partners to assist in workforce programs’ success.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
