GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

To pick up incoming mail and deliver outgoing mail as well as tracking incoming/outgoing packages. Additional responsibilities include preparing monthly billing for mail services, training and delivering paper supplies. This position receives general direction from the Central Services Supervisor and exercises no supervision. NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: Some professional work experience.

Special Requirement:  Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be insurable and maintain insurability under the College’s automobile insurance policy.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. U.S. Postal Services rules and regulations. 2. Policies and procedures for private mail services, such as UPS and FedEx. 3. Emerging technology as it relates to the job/department. 4. Modern office practices, methods, and procedures. 5. Basic math principles. Skills in: 6. Operating office equipment including email, spreadsheets, and database programs. 7. Process large quantities of mail and deliver to specific areas with accuracy and efficiency. 8. Keep accurate records and make calculations (postage). Ability to: 9. Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 10. Work independently with little or no supervision. 11. Provide excellent customer service and display a courteous demeanor. 12. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 13. Be flexible and adapt to change in assignment. 14. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exertive-Significant exertion on a daily basis.  Awkward positions and sustained activities require strength.  Frequent moderate lifting is required. Unpleasant Exposure Minor Hazard-Moderate exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant but not hazardous odors are present.  There is occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions. Frequency and severity are limited.
