GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Director is responsible for oversight and management of Center resources as outlined in the SBA scope of work to include budget and personnel management and attainment of program goals as outlined by Sub-Recipient agreement and Grant requirements. This position receives general direction from the Dean of Workforce & Public Service and exercises Professional and Support Staff supervision. NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: More than three years of supervisory work experience in small business development or grant management.

Special Requirement: Must have SBDC Counselor certification or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Professional experience working with a Small Business Development Center.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. General business principles and practices. 2. Grant and Budget management, workflows, and reporting. Skills in: 3. Financial and critical thinking for business development. 4. Strategic planning and program development.  Ability to: 5. Work with a wide range of client and stakeholder’s expectations to maximize performance. 6. Demonstrate leadership and management. 7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 8. Communicate effectively with a varied population. 9. Connect and network with community business partners.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
