GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Perform a variety of tasks in support of processes and functions related to payroll reporting. Generate and submit all mandated Federal and State reports to include all tax deposits and payroll tax returns. Reconcile accounts, prepare and submit reports and payments for all payroll and fringe benefit related activities.  This position receives general direction from the Associate Director of Financial Services and exercises no supervision. NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: More than one year of professional work experience in an accounting or financial position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or other closely related field.

Experience: Professional accounting experience in an educational setting, and/or TRS reporting.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Payroll processing and editing procedures, principles, and practices. 2. Up-to-date, applicable Federal and State tax reporting methods. 3. Current State retirement accounts and fringe benefits. 4. Double entry, fund, and governmental accounting. Skills in: 5. Utilizing Microsoft Office applications (specifically Excel) and other internal software. 6. Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials. 7. Interpreting and applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and making effective decisions. 8. Exhibiting professionalism and ethical behavior. 9. Effectively organizing, using strong attention to detail and proper follow through. Ability to: 10. Balance accounts and reconcile/resolve discrepancies. 11. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 12. Create and maintain accurate records and reports. 13. Organize and prioritize multiple tasks to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines. 14. Navigate and utilize multiple online programs to complete and submit a variety of Federal and State reports. 15. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse population.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
