Maintenance Helper
Description
Primary Responsibilities:
Attend all scheduled safety, department and company meetings as required.
Follow and enforce company safety policies and safe work practices at all times to ensure safety of self and others
Assist in repairs of buildings, grounds and servicing of equipment (production equipment, cranes, etc.)
Notify supervisor of materials and parts needed for maintenance and repairs of equipment or buildings.
Operate equipment as needed (overhead crane, forklift, manlift)
Assist in maintaining service and repair records.
Maintain a neat, clean and organized maintenance shop using standard housekeeping techniques.
Comply with company policies and OSHA guidelines which apply to the maintenance department such as, but not limited to: Lock out/Tag out, Material Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Material usages.
Physical & Work Requirements:
Working in a yard or warehouse facility within OSHA guidelines; conditions may be heated and/or unheated, dusty and noisy; steel-toed boot required daily.
Facility is a multiple shift operation. Must possess the ability to work a flexible schedule and be on-call at various times including possible weekends and holidays.
Fast-paced moderately stressful, constantly changing day to day work environment
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical or machinery parts. Exposed to chemicals used within the work area.
Above ground repairs involving some high work from personnel lifting equipment (man lift or extendible booms).
Wear proper PPE at all times (as described in company policy).
Able to lift up to 100 pounds as needed. Pushing, pulling or carrying up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand, walk, or be mobile for up to eight hours per shift. Capable of ascending and descending material handling equipment
Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:
High School Diploma or GED.
Previous experience working maintenance in a warehouse environment

Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise:
General knowledge of electricity (basic 110, 230 and 460 voltages), hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanics.
Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings. Understanding of electronics.
Technical school training preferred or equivalent work experience.
