Overview:

The EHS Coordinator is responsible to support the Company’s mission by providing a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, customers and contractors. The position provides EHS support to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident free work environment by identifying risks, creating and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. The position will also ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations including reporting agency requirements. This position will also respond to emergency situations when they arise.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Assist with establishing and implementing a detailed strategy plan to achieve Environmental Health and Safety compliance across all facilities through milestone safety goals through key deliverables of: Management commitment and employee involvement, Worksite analysis, Hazard prevention and control, Training for employees, supervisors and managers, Documenting safety activities including drills and Safety and health recordkeeping including database maintenance, evacuation plans, and training records.
  • Ensure that all state and federal regulations relating to workplace safety, especially those set forth by OSHA, are implemented and adhered to by performing first party audits of locations that include warehouses, manufacturing lines, laboratories, and offices.
  • Assist and provide leadership during the conception, facilitation, and enforcement of any new policies to ensure compliance by demonstrating the required behaviors, attitudes and mindset to further develop the Company’s EHS culture.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs, design improvements by working with stakeholders toward implementation.
  • Collect, record, analyze, and communicate key performance metrics on a regular basis to effectively facilitate the advancement and continuous improvement of the Company’s EHS goals and initiatives.
  • Champion a “Safety First” mind-set by motivating and influencing all levels within the organization to plan and execute every task.
  • Develop and lead safety committees.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide support and advice for the continuous improvement of job processes.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams (manufacturing operations, R&D, marketing, etc.) to identify and mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Carry out all required documentation and communication in case of an accident with the relevant governing organization.
  • Assist in the facilitation and adherence of the Workers’ Compensation process with diligence by partnering with Human Resources and the leadership team.
  • Plan and implement programs to train new and current employees in relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in development of SOPs, and Job Safety Analyses for each SOP.
    Perform safety buy off/evaluation of new machines to ensure employee safety and compliance standards are met.
  • Serve as facility representative for all regulatory inspections and compliance audits.
    Leads all incident investigations to identify the root cause and ensures corrective action measures are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as required

Education:

  • 1-3 years in the field of safety and compliance
  • Bachelors’ degree with an emphasis in industrial safety, occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related experience
  • Understanding of safety and occupational health and industrial hygiene principles.

Experience:

  • Safety and health management systems, accident prevention techniques, audits and evaluations.
  • Interacting with regulatory agencies, safety and health professionals and legal counsel.

Competencies, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to compile, analyze and interpret data § Ability to conduct incident analyses
  • Ability to prioritize tasks within a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively in a team environment and with individuals at all levels of the organization
