Walker Partners has an immediate opening for a full-time writer on our marketing team. We are a Texas-based, Texas-owned civil engineering and surveying firm committed to strengthening the communities we call home. As a member of the marketing team, you will work closely with the Marketing Designer to build materials and campaigns for marketing, business development, recruiting and employee engagement. You’ll develop content across various media, including social media, email, and web.

Example marketing and recruiting projects could include social media campaigns, email newsletters, project descriptions, employee bios, website updates, and printed collateral.

Example internal corporate communications projects could include internal email campaigns, new hire announcements, intranet articles highlighting project and employee news, onboarding materials, and employee engagement materials.

As a part of the business development team, you’ll help with proposals, statements of qualification, and various presentations.

Skills and Experience 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of related experience. This position will ideally be in our Waco, TX office, but we are open to having this position based in Austin or Fort Worth. We are seeking a professional, enthusiastic, positive, committed, self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual who anticipates issues and thrives on creative, independent problem solving within a deadline-driven (quick-paced) environment.

During the interview process, writing samples may be requested or a writing exercise may be given.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Associates degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, English, or similar field
  • 2-5 years of experience in similar role
  • Professional experience writing across multiple platforms
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Experience with social media platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Strong spirit of teamwork and outstanding collaborative interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter, multi-tasker, organized and detail-oriented
  • Possess a sense of urgency to meet deadlines while managing competing priorities
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with various personalities

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, English or similar
  • 5-10 years of experience in similar role
  • Experience with email marketing platforms and website development
